Michael Charman leads our judging panel and has done so since 2018.

Michael Charman - Head Judge
Michael is the Chair of our judging panel and has worked in the WHS&E industry for over 30 years. Having originally trained as an aircraft mechanic he saw the challenges in applying safe work procedures into daily operations, and was compelled to try and make a difference.

He spent the next 12 years as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer for the RAAF, overseeing all facets of safe work and environmental compliance across several large air force bases both in Australia and overseas. He then went on to hold senior positions with Sydney Airport, the NSCA, CSIRO and Suncorp among others as he continued his career in assisting organisations to implement best practice safety and environmental management systems across their operations.
